On October 21, 2025, the city of Málaga hosted a historic event: the official inauguration of the Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC) European Centre, the institution’s first office in Europe.
The ceremony took place in the Salón de los Espejos at Málaga City Hall, presided over by Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Málaga, together with representatives from Shanghai, the University of Málaga, and UNITAR.
Ambassador Luis Gallegos Chiriboga, President of GIA Longevity and Chair of the UNITAR Board of Trustees, attended the event alongside Mr. Alex Mejía, Director of the Division for People and Social Inclusion at UNITAR, representing the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
This milestone underscores Málaga’s emergence as a bridge between Europe, the Mediterranean, and Asia, strengthening its position as an international hub for cooperation, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution.
“This is a milestone that reinforces Málaga’s role as a bridge between continents and cultures.” – Ambassador Luis Gallegos Chiriboga
GIA Longevity celebrates this achievement as a testament to Málaga’s growing leadership in fostering dialogue, innovation, and global understanding.
