GIA Longevity is a global, multisectoral, non-profit alliance affiliated with the United Nations, dedicated to transforming how societies adapt to demographic change and healthy ageing.

Progress Overview (2022–2025)

1️⃣ Public Policy – 85% Progress

  • Engaged in key UN dialogues in Geneva and New York: UN Human Rights Council, Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing, UNGA78.

  • Advocacy for a UN Convention on the Rights of Older Persons — culminating in an adopted resolution to launch negotiations (April 3, 2025).

  • Collaboration with Harvard Law School, Baker McKenzie and EU institutions.

  • Leadership in the Longevity Economy Steering Committee at the World Economic Forum.

  • Over 60 strategic MoUs signed to expand multilateral cooperation.

2️⃣ Advocacy & Campaigning – 75% Progress

  • Launched a global anti-ageism campaign and a forthcoming documentary series.

  • Hosted major events such as the Intersectoral Congress on Ageing and Dependency.

  • Strong presence at Davos, Zero Project, SilverEco Forum, Climate & Justice Conferences at Harvard.

  • Prominent media outreach to promote positive, evidence-based narratives on ageing.

3️⃣ Capacity Building – 70% Progress

  • Developed the Mainstreaming Knowledge on Ageing course with UNITAR.

  • Designed training modules like Caring for Carers and Financial Inclusion 2.0.

  • Built a Network of Research Institutions and a standardised framework for ageing education across Europe and the Americas.

4️⃣ Innovation – 80% Progress

  • Launched Project Brain, a digital labour platform for flexible work for older adults.

  • Forged innovation alliances with Uber, Modern Elder Academy, Junoverse and Merck.

  • Created AI-based tools for older women’s empowerment, cognitive health and financial wellness.

  • Advocated for tech and AI integration to reduce digital exclusion among older people.


? Key Figures & Milestones

  • 60+ strategic MoUs signed with governments, academia, NGOs, and corporations—solidifying GIA Longevity’s role as a central convenor in global ageing and longevity policy.
  • UN Human Rights Council resolution adopted (April 3, 2025) launching negotiations for the International Convention on the Rights of Older Persons, following sustained GIA advocacy and draft contributions through Geneva and New York processes.
  • 70+ high‑level international engagements, including meetings with Pope Francis, UN Secretary‑General António Guterres, and active participation in major forums such as Davos, UNGA, SDG Summit, Zero Project, SilverEco Forum, WSIS+20, Pontifical Longevity Summit (March 24, 2025)—and the development of 20+ flagship projects spanning policy, innovation, capacity building, and digital inclusion.
