On May 21, 2024, GIA Longevity participated in the side event entitled “Promoting Inclusive Ageing Through Technology: Collaborative Perspectives and Use Cases”, organized in the framework of the 14th session of the United Nations Working Group on Ageing, in New York. The event, jointly coordinated with UNITAR, was held in room CR.2 at UN Headquarters.

This panel addressed how innovative technology can support the full participation of older people in society and decision-making. Topics discussed included innovative telecommunications solutions, age-friendly infrastructure, and inclusive health services. Attendees gained valuable information on successful initiatives and best practices that foster inclusive ageing and enable older people to integrate into public and political life.
The event was streamed live on the UN web platform, allowing a wider reach to share experiences on the benefits of technology in inclusive ageing.

The Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity – GIA Longevity – underlined its commitment to promoting collaborative approaches to address the challenges of ageing, highlighting concrete examples and use cases in which technology improves the quality of life of older people. This innovative approach was positively received, considering that these types of technological applications are not yet widely known.
