The roundtable focused on the topic of “The Intersectionality of Discrimination Faced by Older Persons.”

This session emphasized the importance of understanding how older persons experience intersecting forms of discrimination based on age, gender, race, disability, and other factors. The discussion aimed to inform the development of effective policies and interventions that uphold the rights and well-being of older adults.

Highlights:

  • Analysis of the layered and unique biases faced by older populations.
  • Insights into the strengths and needs of older persons for fostering social inclusion.
  • Strategies to combat intersectional discrimination and promote equitable policies.

This roundtable underscored the necessity of addressing intersectionality to ensure that older persons are supported holistically, fostering an inclusive society that values their contributions and addresses their challenges.
